This letter was written to a professor of political science at George Washington University, Warren Reed West, who was interested in the capture of Guam. It contains a recollection of the capture of Guam from the perspective of an unknown sailor aboard the SS Australia.
This letter is important because most of what we hear about the capture comes from Captain Henry Glass but this letter shows us a perspective from a sailor who was not even on the same ship as Glass. I picked it because the letter because it fills in more of the picture of what happened that day.
